How can I pray for West Africa?
Special Friday Prayers: Friday is considered the most holy Muslim day of the week. Jola Muslims pray five times a day, no matter where they are, but on Friday at 2 p.m. they are required to pray at the mosque. Neglecting to pray at the mosque is considered a great sin. Jola Muslims also believe that the further you have to travel to get to the mosque, the more blessings you will receive. Each Friday, IMB missionaries working among the Jola have specific prayer requests for local Muslims in their area. They pray that
- As the Jola go to the mosque and pray, they will have a sense of confusion instead of a sense of peace (peace is very important to them)
- The Jola will realize that what they are worshipping is not the truth
- God will reveal Himself to them
- The Jola will want to know who Jesus is and
- They will accept Jesus as their Savior. Please join the Jola team in praying for these specific prayer needs each Friday. - Jola-fonyi of Senegal
