Teaching to Transform Lives
Leading by example
The teacher of the Sunday Morning Bible Study is the key leader of the class. Like a pastor of a church, he/she leads as a model, growing disciple, as the lead communicator of biblical truth, and as the vision caster. An effective teacher will empower a director to take the lead in the care, outreach, and coordination of the class. A teacher should not enter this ministry hastily, but with reverence and humility. James 3:1 in The Message states: Don’t be in any rush to become a teacher, my friends. Teaching is highly responsible work. Teachers are held to the strictest standards.

All adult SMBS teachers must be growing followers of Jesus Christ since they will reproduce learners similar to their own characters. We know that no Christian has “arrived,” but rather is in the process of becoming more like Christ daily. We hope that all teachers will be like the apostle Paul and can say, “I have not yet arrived; but I am choosing to be ‘on the way’ rather than to be ‘in the way’.”
