Outreach Coordinators
Outreach through Coordination and Teamwork
Since Sunday Morning Bible Studies will remain open groups, new adults can attend and join at any time. A purposeful group will make outreach and evangelism a priority. Teachers and Directors must emphasize the fact that all Christians are commissioned by Christ as evangelists (Matthew 28:18-20). Every member of a SMBS should have a prayer list of three or more lost people in his/her sphere of influence. They need to be on the lookout for lost and unchurched adults they can bring to their SMBS. Assimilation of outsiders into a SMBS requires the teamwork of members reaching out and drawing in these new adults. Each SMBS needs a point person to coordinate these evangelistic and outreach efforts.

EXPECTATIONS FOR ALL OUTREACH COORDINATORS
  • Be a growing disciple of Christ
  • Take your responsibility seriously
  • Participate in NetWork as a mentor or apprentice
  • Be a good team member by communicating regularly with your Director
  • Spiritual gifts preferred: evangelism, administration, and/or shepherding
SPECIFIC TASKS OF AN OUTREACH COORDINATOR
  • See that every assigned guest receives a contact within 24 hours of his/her first visit
  • Make sure all guests who visit your SMBS are warmly welcomed, and make sure they fill out the Guest Information Form. Retrieve enough demographic information so a NetWork team can make a follow-up contact
  • Make sure all first time guests are escorted to worship and/or invited to lunch after church by a member of your SMBS
  • Keep an updated file of all guests. If possible, discover spiritual background and other data that would enable a NetWork team to make a quality contact
  • Make sure all guests receive invitations to social events
  • Act as the Care Group Leader for all guests until they are assigned a Care Group
  • Encourage all SMBS members to be relational evangelists and receive training through NetWork
